Memorial Day Weekend

This Memorial Day weekend we spent with Barrett's family. We took several walks. Jack's cousin Preston loved pushing Jack in his stroller!
We went to the playground so the kids could play...and Barrett!

Jack just rested in his stroller and watched his Dad play. Ha!

One afternoon we went fishing - 3 fish were caught this time!

There was a Twister competition.

Jack had playtime with GramPam

and playtime with PaPa.

Jack tried out his new tent for nap time over at his cousins house. Guess what happened while he was in there? He rolled over for the first time from his back to his tummy! Tummy to back - 3 weeks old. Back to tummy - 5 months old.Jack and Daddy. Notice the outfit that Jack has on. Here is a picture of a 7 1/2 month old baby wearing the same outfit. Any guesses who this baby is? You guessed it! It is Barrett!Jack now fits into the same outfit his Daddy wore as a baby!

Jack had fun playing with his cousin Mackenzie too!

It was a great weekend together!

5 Months Old

Jack Ryan is now 5 months old! Each day just keeps getting better and better! How is that even possible? He was fabulous to begin with!!! I love playing dress up each day with my real life baby doll. He can fit most all 3-6 months, 6-9 months, and some 12 month clothes and size 2 diapers.

If you look real close you can see light brown hair on this little mans head and without looking closely at all you can see that his eyes are big, beautiful, and blue!

Jack loves to SMILE,
but is also serious at times (he had just gotten up from his nap here),

he is IN LOVE with chewing on his hands (or anything he can fit in his mouth) since he is in the process of getting teeth- although none have popped out yet. He nurses about every 3 hours (give or take) during the day and drinks 4-6 ounces when given a bottle,

he just started sometimes sleeping on his side in this position and now sleeps 8 or 9 hours straight at night (although that has not been the case this week...not sleeping so well right now) with naps throughout the day every 2 or 3 hours for anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours long.

Jack loves being outside,

and his most recent trick is playing with his feet.
Each new day we get with our baby boy is such a gift and we are treasuring every minute of it!

Birthday Boy

Barrett celebrated his 37th birthday this past week - his first birthday as a Daddy.
Here is how we celebrated: 1. Opening presents

2. Breakfast at the Cotton Gin Cafe

3. Jack's first ride in Daddy's jeep

4. A nature walk outside - perfect weather

5. Spending time together as a family on the 1+ hour hike

6. Eating Fish Cake

7. Dinner at a Chinese Buffet (notice the little octopus on the plate...yes, he ate that....and liked it too!)
Happy Birthday to my wonderful Husband and Daddy to our little man Jack!

Bald is Beautiful

Jack is growing more hair each day, but I guess he is still basically considered "bald." Nothing wrong with that. My baby is still a beautiful as can be!

Worth the Wait

Yup....I'd say this little guy was definitely worth the wait!

Tiny Turtle

Jack's cousin Oliver found this tiny turtle on a walk, so we went over to his house to check it out! Jack is checking out the little guy.
And of course Barrett...he loves little critters too!

Look how little it is compared to Barrett's hand!

Trip to the Swings

Jack went on his first trip to the park to "play" on the swings. He sure was excited during our walk over to the park!
I think he likes it!

He is so little in there. His legs aren't even long enough to go through the holes.

Just chillin'
I remember that feeling of butterflies in my stomach as I would swing. He must feel that too and think it's pretty funny!

My 1st Mother's Day

First Mother's Day

"Little girls have always dreamed, of one day being grown; of having a home and family, and children of their own. As little girls they played the games, with dollies cuddled near; of being grown up Mommies, and now that day is here. For cuddled sweetly in her arms, of the little girl now grown; is the sweetest dream she ever dreamed, a baby of her own. In all the years of growing up, in the games that little girls play; none will ever be so sweet, as her very first Mother's Day."

Poem by Allison Chambers Coxsey

Yea!!!! A dream come true! I had my first Mother's Day as a Mommy to this sweet little baby Jack! I LOVE being a Mom!!!! My 1st Mother's Day - May 8, 2011

Kisses for my baby

We had dinner with my Mom at Cracker Barrel. She is the best Mom ever!!!

For Mother's Day Barrett and Jack got me this nice dark wooden high chair since Jack will begin baby food in another month or two. Jack tried it out this morning (the high chair, not the baby food) and I think it will work out well.

As another gift, Barrett said I can order blog books for my blog! I am sooo excited!!!! One reason I have this blog is to document all that is going on in our life. Now instead of just having it online, I will be able to have it made into books. My plan is to have a book made for every year. Hopefully I will get that ordered sometime this week!

This Mommy bracelet was a birthday gift from my sister Tara. Isn't it cute?! I have really enjoyed having a bracelet with my little mans name on it to wear this Mother's Day!

Stud Muffin

My Happy Little "Stud Muffin"

Sick Baby

Jack has been sick this week. Such a poor, pitiful little guy. But my, has he handled it well! He never cried much, just wasn't himself - although he would still give me a few smiles during the day. Starting last Sunday afternoon he started to get a little cough and runny nose, then it kept getting worse and worse. He never really got much of a fever. By Wednesday morning I decided he really should go to get checked out by the doctor. Glad I did! He ended up being diagnosed with bronchiolitis, a respiratory virus. He started taking breathing treatments and they have helped him out a lot!!!! Currently he still has a cough here and there, but he is feeling MUCH better! He is trying to look happy even though he really doesn't feel very good.
On Monday it was in the 50's and rainy. I wanted him to be cozy and warm. What better than a soft and fun CHRISTMAS outfit in the beginning of May??? It was a hand me down from our friend Zach. Jack wasn't around to wear it this past Christmas and he won't fit into it next Christmas, so why not now! Ha!

Resting up, trying to get well.

One Year Ago Today....

Just one year ago today we got some really good news....... We found out we were going to be a Mommy and Daddy! After coming home from work that day I took an at home pregnancy test. What a feeling to finally (after many, many negative tests over the past several years) see 2 lines showing that I was pregnant! Barrett was in the kitchen cooking dinner. I went out to the kitchen holding the test and just showed it to him. I was speechless! We are not ones to keep a secret for too long, so after we ate dinner (which I ended up not eating very much of with all the excitement) we began the fun task of beginning to share the news with family using these "Soon to be Daddy" and "Soon to be Mommy" shirts!
The week we found out about our little bundle of joy we were taking a trip to NYC and the beach. So what was one of my souvenirs that I purchased you may ask??? An "I love NY" onesie, of course! The day I bought this also just happened to be Mother's Day. And what an exciting Mother's Day that was for me!
